Why should your school district join PARSS? We have the answers!
The Pennsylvania Association of Rural and Small Schools (PARSS) is the only education association in the state that participated in the landmark school funding lawsuit—successfully advocating for fairer funding for small and rural districts. As a result, our members are already seeing positive outcomes.
When your district joins PARSS, you gain access to timely legislative updates, connections with the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and free professional development opportunities for school board members and educators. We also offer webinars on current educational issues, collect and share valuable survey data, and provide free job postings through our website and social media.
PARSS actively promotes the voice of our members through media representation and has awarded more than $180,000 in scholarships over the past six years.
See what some of our members are saying:
“Joining PARSS offers valuable networking, professional learning, and strong advocacy for small rural public schools. The annual conference connects like-minded leaders and delivers timely, relevant sessions. As a leading voice in state-level advocacy, PARSS is a key resource for superintendents to ensure their districts are well represented.” – Clyde Pierce, Galeton Area School District
“PARSS brings together school administrators who experience many of the same joys and challenges facing small and rural school districts. There is strength in numbers, and PARSS leverages that strength to advocate for the needs of the children served by our member schools.” – Kenneth Kerchenske, Cambria Heights School District
“Joining PARSS offers a valuable opportunity for our small, rural school district in PA to have our unique challenges and needs addressed. Beyond the benefit of a free keynote speaker to enrich professional development, PARSS provides a strong, unified platform for advocacy, ensuring our voices are heard and our interests are represented at the state level.” – Krista M. Antonis, Annville-Cleona School District
“In today’s challenging educational climate, rural and small school districts cannot afford to stand alone. By joining PARSS, we gain a powerful voice in Harrisburg, access to invaluable professional networks, and the support needed to ensure our students receive the same opportunities as those in larger districts. Membership in PARSS is not just an investment in advocacy – it’s an investment in equity, collaboration, and the future of rural education in Pennsylvania.” – David Koma, Girard School District
